I've got all their albums, so yeah, I'm a fan. White Blood Cells is a really good peice of work.

eh, i wasn't very impressed. one of my friends tried to get me into them, but it was just boring to me.

I think that everyone was given the same sound in too short of time. I mean the Strokes, TWS, the Hives, and the Vines all became "big" in within' like six months of each other. And they sound so simular people just get tired of it. It was just too much of the same in to short of time. typical MTV

i really don't think those bands sound very similar. the white stripes really don't sound anything like the vines at all.

i agree. none of those bands sound similar at all. The Strokes and The Vines lead singers have similar singing voices in SOME of their songs but that's all i can think of

Most people are to busy with their own lives to spend time talking about you. Unless, maybe, they're really, really jealous because you're the most talented person they've ever met, so they tear you down behind closed doors, say you're a jerk to work for, a power-hungry red haired egomaniac. It's just a pathetic attempt to justify their own worthless existence. Well you know what?(screaming) You people sicken me! You're nothing! All of you, you're nothing! Get out of here! The White Stripes rock my world :) Hence me starting a thread without realising there was already one going. Man, do I feel stupid :P

Btw, I love all those bands that start with 'the'. And they are still coming, ie. the Distillers, the Libertines

ROCK ON!

I think "The" is irrelevant to whether they're a good band or not. I'm sure theres plenty of crap bands called "The"... and plenty of rockin bands who dont. You gotta love "The Beck" though, that was classy.

I'm just saying that I have diverse taste in music. I enjoy most of it, hence, that's why I enjoy bands that start with 'the'

ms. white, the drummer, is terrible, and their music is nothing special, but it's catchy as shit, at least their newest "seven nation army" is....when the video is on mtv i have to watch it like the damn real world, i just can't change the channel....i think the strokes are ridiculously crappy, i listened to that album and couldn't understand what the big deal was, i haven't listened to much of the hives stuff, and the vines are annoying as shit, respectively

i like elephant a lot better than white blood cells. ebc seems more transitional. it's kind of like blur's parklife was really awesome, everything in between that and think tank seems experimental to me. and yes, meg isn't the world's greatest drummer, but she has a charm that lends itself really well to the image and style of the music. no one ever claimed she was the best, especially not herself. but there's a chemistry between her and jack that can't be duplicated with another person. he summed it up pretty well in last month's blender mag.

i searched this page for the word "overrated" and hit on this adroit quote...

Is it just me, or are ALL bands either overrated or underrated? Is there one band -- one band on the face of the Earth -- that is exactly as popular as they should be?

Well I'm going to see the White Stripes on July 5th in Milwaukee, so I'm quite excited...I don't care if people think they suck live...it'll still be an awesome experience...yay white stripes!!!
And while we're at it, I personally think Elephant isn't as good as White Blood Cells...but that's just me...for some reason, WBC I thought wasa phenominal album, and Ele. I think is just basically a re-hashing of WBC. It doesn't "do it" for me as much as WBC did, but it's still quite the phenomenal album...

I'll be seeing the Stripeys twice in Chicago... yeah dude. Also, White Blood Cells is a little more rock than Elephant is. Well, rock and pop... so yeah.
