anyone a fan?

after months of being told that they were a good band, i finally purchased "tallahassee". what an amazing album, it's beautifully written. i've listened to it scores of times since last weekend, it's heartbreaking. but in a good way.

Nope. But I could be.

What's their sound like? Maybe I'll look for some songs..

the voice is willie nelson-esque. but not really, it's a very unique voice.

most people just classify them as "indie rock", i am a huge fan of neutral milk hotel and this guy found out and started pushing the mountain goats to me.

if you're going to download songs, try to get them from the tallahassee album. the album tells a story, so it's pretty important that you listen to the songs within the context of the others. but if you can't, then oh well.

songs are: tallahassee, first few desperate hours, southwood plantation road, game shows touch our lives*, the house that dripped blood, idylls of the king, no children*, see america right, peacocks, international small arms traffic blues, have to explode, old college try*, oceanographer's choice, alpha rat's nest.

*my favorites, so far.

i'm seeing the mountain goats tomorrow and i am so incredibly excited. i've been listening to them almost non-stop for like two weeks now. it's going to be so incredible!!

everyone must listen to them. i reccommend the album "sweden" to each and every person here as a starter record. wow.

I've heard one song of theirs, "Going to Georgia" I believe, it was pretty annoying. Atom and his Package sure likes them though.

ohhhhhhh holy geeeeeeez that was definitely one of the best shows i have ever been to. wowww. i can't even put it into words really. the best part was that we totally walked outside with john. like right next to him, talking the whole way. soo nice. then he hid behind a column of the theater to smoke and would jump out and talk to people coming out of the show and they'd be like "woah...we just saw you sing," ohh it was amazing.

grant, i haven't heard "going to georgia," but i'm not all surprised, they have like 400 songs. john has a different, kind of scratchy singing voice so i can see where it could be annoying to you, but i love it. and the lyrics are just incredible. gahhhh. so good. ssooo good.

Yeah, I like the lyrics. Good song, just the way it was played/sung turned me off.
