they performed a co-headlining concert w/ The Spin Doctors (who have also re-formed and will be releasing new material) in my hometown...I found out while I was at work the day of. And no I didn't/couldn't leave early...although a show like that would have been incredibly kickass.

Cool return of two one(well, two really)-hit wonders who deserved to achieve so much more than they did originally. I'd love to see a POTUSA, Spin Doctors, Pixies gig! Reformtastic!

The Giraffes were just Chris Ballew (the lead singer/bassitar player)...it's okay. A bit more pop oriented, less alt rock like The Prez.

I was reading on their site that when Chris was driving somewhere, "Peaches" came on the radio and his young son, who was sitting in the back, started singing along. That's when Chris went home and busted out the 'ol 2 string bass that beckoned him, "like an old friend." He started feeling some of the old vibes...and the Prez reformed!

The guitbass player said that the reunion was due, in part, to the band regaining the rights to their quadruple platnuim record "PUSA I" (The one w/ Lump & Peaches). They're going to re-release that with some new bonus tracks and new video footage. Also, he said, the band is more happy being back in relative obscurity. I think he said something like, "We're more free to rock."

All this is on the site....but it's flash-based so I couldn't copy & paste.

ALSO...The Prez will be putting out a new record! Woo!

The last PUSA album was called "Freaked Out & Small" which was released, I think, in 2000.

I was surprised to learn that Chris Ballew played a major part in Beck's album One Foot In The Grave too. Apparently the pair of them lived together for quite a while and even recorded an EP together under the names 'Caspar and Mollusk' as far as I'm aware, only two songs from that ever saw the light of day, both suitably strange. Even more surprisingly though, was that one of the songs was called 'Twig', a song Chris wrote about Beck which he later rewrote, keeping the original lyrics, and released on PUSA's album 'II'. Small world

The Presidents of the united states were the first band that I ever really saw live. They were playing with Chixdiggit another great canadian band. PUSA was my all time favorite band before Ben Folds Five came along. I cross over after I founf out that both bands covered "Video Killed the Radio Star"

Best PUSA Song ever is...Stranger from their self-titled album.
