Help me write the chorus 2

OK OK OK...after a few days of writing....here is what I've got.....still slightly unfinished

"No Angel"
I've been searching for a girl
Been looking all my life
Had a girl in Baltimore
Thought she'd be my wife
Spend some time in Buffalo
But it wasnt meant to be
Thought I'd keep this Georgia girl
But she had no intention of keeping me

Met a girl from Omaha
She lives in a motel
She looks just like an angel
But I bet she's been through hell
I dont want no angel
Cause they'll make you sing the blues
My father always told me
That the devil was an angel too

I'm getting older now
Been thiking bout settling down
If I can find a girl
Who'll stick around

That girl from Omaha
Gave me her number and a line
"You should call me up one night
If you've got the time"
I should throw the number out
But I hate to be alone
I think I'll call her up tonight
If I can find a telephone

I drove out to see her
On a friday afternoon
I spent all my money
But she told me to come back soon
This little angel
She's got me on a string
I can almost picture
The kinda pain this girl will bring

I'm growing wiser now
Been thinking of of settling down
If I can find a place
Where I cant be found

Thought I'd go and see that angel
So I called up to her room
The woman at the desk told me
"she said she'd be back soon.
That was three days ago,
but I knew all along
She didnt plan on coming back
And the towels, they're all gone."

I find that lyrics always seem much cheesier if you read them without hearing them.

I could hear a band like counting crows or maybe gin blossoms pulling off a song like that without making it cheesey

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a main era---the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run, but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant.
