Does Ben Folds endorse or support taping of his shows? I will be at the Brown show and I am hoping to tape it. If Ben does allow taping can someone please point me in the direction of where I can print Ben's taping policy so that I can bring it with me?

Thanks

Here's the Ben Folds Five FAQ, from Frank Maynard's site.... it's the most recent statement that I'm aware of

http://www.fmaynard.com/bff/faq.html

He doesn't necessarily support it, but he doesn't argue against it either. Basically, if you can get your stuff in, you're fine... but if you can't, don't expect help from him.

I'd say your best bet is bringing the statement, but trying to sneak the equipment in. Only use the statement if you get caught

Good luck

I don't think there's an official taping policy available online. However, I know that Ben is cool with taping, but sometimes his staff doesn't like it, because Sony pays them not to like it. Different venues also have different policies of their own on it. Be discrete.

You can print off Ben saying that he doesn't mind taping, but if a venue doesn't allow taping, they will not be swayed any other way.

you shouldn't have a problem at brown. i've never seen them check for audio devices when you enter venues....especially since this is an outdoor concert.

Stick the recording device in your back pockets, that usually works for me. They sometimes have security looking for people taping, so I wouldn't hold the mic during the show. It's probably best to either attach it to yourself (noisy) or set it mostly concealed under your jacket on the ground or chair.

Good luck.

Hahaha

I enjoyed that.

John: Mr. Phelps, we're all actors, and—
Mr. Phelps: Well, I'm sorry to hear about it, John.
John: Well, it is hard being an actor, but—
Mr. Phelps: What's so hard about it? I've seen actors in plays before. It's stupid! Everybody says Shakespeare's so great—well, how come nobody's ever heard of him? Hell, I'll write you a play. All you need is a silly old king's hat and some fancy sissy clothes out of your sister's drawers, and you get up on the stage and you go nuts!
