Good call on Sara O'Reilly. I've been listening to her stuff on happyfrappy.com since that site started...she's awesome :) |
I saw Laura Veirs last week; kinda folky, but not boring, which is always good. Absolutely fantastic lyrics - really funny. Nelly MacKay's album 'Get Away From Me' is a lot of fun too. |
Keith just posted her doing "Rainy Day". It's stellar. |
Hehe totally ahead of you. I just downloaded it about 10 minutes ago :) |
Her covers really are better than anyone else's on there. |
Most definitely. The only thing that I've ever heard come even close was a couple years ago when my friend was in an a capella group at the University of Wisconsin. They did a spectacular a capella version of "Fa Fa" that just left me speechless. I think I still have it buried somewhere on my computer here...one of girls did all that high-scale instrumentation at the end of the song solely with her voice...it was amazing... |

Ooh, I'll add Kathleen Edwards. |

When Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley releases her solo album later this year, you can bet it will be pretty amazing. |
Solo record? Who the fuck does she think she is, Gwen Stefani? |
or Ben Folds? |
So is Rilo Kiley ka-put? |
Nope. She's just doing this as a side project. |
Then I don't get Grant's "or Ben Folds?" comment. |
Did No Doubt break up? I was unaware. |
No Doubt didn't break up |
I compared Jenny Lewis to Gwen Stefani. Similar situations. Then he throws in Ben. Not-so-similar situations. Sorry. |
That Grant... |

Oh! i forgot Suzi Quatro. |

Patty Griffin |

I'm suprised no one's said Suzanne Vega yet, so I'll say it. Suzanne Vega. Also there's a group called Shivaree with a woman as the lead singer that are pretty good. Who's Got Trouble is their latest album. Also there's Natalie Mercheant, formerly of 10 000 maniacs, but she's got some solo albums and if you've heard the Mermaid Avenue albums that Billy Bragg and Wilco did with the Woody Guthrie lyrics, she's on a couple of tracks on those as well. |

“We saw a lot of each other for six years, so we aren't rushing to do any barbecues anytime soon.”
