At the same time, most government facilities, including the police and fire departments, and most of the shelters were destroyed. as much as i dislike most of the government and Dubya, i have to admit that this is a NATURAL DISASTER.

You can't really stop a hurricane, and its not Bush's fault that most of the South and in the ghetto didn't evacuate when they were told to. Many of them couldn't afford to evacuate. Especially with gas prices how they were (oh look at them now!). Poverty takes generations, these are generations and generations of families who don't have the means, and who struggle daily to surive.

from a sociological point of view, we shouldn't blame looters, right? RIGHT? these are horrible people! mardi gras!! MARDI MOTHER FUCKIN GRAS!!!

the government can't get rid of poverty over night. But then again, Bush did vote to give the rich tax cuts. Nevermind. Its all pointless. Everyone's wrong. I'm wrong. Fuck it, blame Bush, why not!

i think most people are blaming the government and politicians for the terrible, terrible response. the hurricane hit five days ago and people are still dying from the conditions. it's atrocious. have you read any of the news reports? almost every reporter says "it doesn't even feel like we're in the united states."

I feel bad because I don't watch TV and haven't really seen any of the destruction, besides the front page of newspapers that I walk by on my way to class. However, since I get paid today, I'm going to see what I can donate.
