When I say artists I mean in a more traditional sense like painting, but if you wanna throw in some movies about musicians or whatever then that's cool.

I've recently watched Pollock, Basquiat and Frida and I liked them all, specialy Pollock. If anyone has any more good movies (or documentaries) about artists they'd like to reccomend that'd be great, thanks.

It's called The Agony & the Ecstasy and it is pretty darned good.

I'd also recommend Vincent & Theo

Modigliani with Andy Garcia was released recently. That was okay. Nothing special.

Before Night Falls is pretty good (greeeeaaaat score by C. Burwell). That's about a poet though. Don't know if that counts.

I'm sure I'll think of some more..

The Life and Times of Andy Warhol

Downtown81 (Is this the same Basquiat film you saw or did you see a different one?)

American Splendor

Those are my picks.

American Splendor is really good, I liked it a bunch.

The Basquiat film I saw was just called Basquiat. I'm gonna have to check those two out though, thanks.

You know, I just had an idea: Instead of making The Rum Diary into a movie, they should've adapted The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved. It's know and the original "gonzo" piece, and it would be cool to see Depp as Thompson again and some other dude as Ralph Steadman, and how Steadman reacted to America. The Derby was his first glimpse of the States, which would be kind of scary for an English guy, or anyone, for that matter.

That'd be great. It might be hard to stretch it out to a feature length film though.

So, what are you saying? That you hate The Rum Diary? I think you are.

I haven't even read it yet.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I was thinking about it in terms of a short.

I love The Rum Diary.

Yeah, The Rum Diary showed me that getting a writing gig isn't the hardest thing in the world. It's actually pretty practical, as long as you know your stuff. You can make a living writing about bowling.

Oh man, it's not about Art at all, but art is the macguffin part of the plot:

The Good Thief.

I love this movie, and no one saw it, so I always try to get people to check it out. This seems like a good a time as any. Rent it!

Frida is amazing. I know it's not so much artist but have you ever seen the Woody Allen film Interiors, it's amazing cinematography. I really love the camera in it, the transition between scenes and so forth. Watch it and tell me what you think.
