as an exploring Christian, I recommend this book. I've seen this guy and he makes valid points about Christianity and our purpose in life. He's more of a teacher than a preacher and that's what I like about him.

It's like this. If you and I got on a boat, a cruise and we're going from New York City to London, OK, on that cruise we could have a lot of freedom.

I mean we might get drunk one night. We might go to bed early one night. We might go fishing. We might, you know, you could have 1,000 different things you might do, stay up for the midnight buffet.

So, you have freedom on the cruise but inevitably the cruise is going to London and you're not going to stop it by anything you're doing. And so, in history, history is moving toward a climax. We don't know when that's going to be. I don't know when it's going to be and anybody who tells you, you can know they're wrong because Jesus said, "Nobody knows the time or the day."

Evangelicals would say three things. Evangelical comes from the Greek word which means good news. Evangel means good news. And, I believe that the Bible is the word of God. I believe that Jesus is who he said he was and I believe I should share the good news with other people. I do not believe in coercion. I believe in conversion. If you have to force it, it's not conversion.

If you want to explore even further, check out "Mere Christianity" by CS Lewis. That book answered a lot of questions for me.

On the topic of good books regarding christianity, I recommend "The Problem of Pain" by CS Lewis. Although I'm not sure I agree with everything he says, he makes lots of valid points and brings up several good topics to consider.

Another good read on this subject is "Everybody Poops."

I've got nothing.

have you heard the song "whatever happenned to soy bomb?"

Anyway, "The Problem of Pain" by CS Lewis is not a treatise to reach a definite conclusion, it is just an amazinf dialogue Lewis had with himself to grieve. an amazing read. as is screwtape letters, and many other lewis works.

After reading into it after I've talked to you about it I've really started to appreciate the Mormon faith a lot. Not like I'd get into it or anything.

mormons and muslims... both do have extremists... as for most religions. i just am not a fan of the whole 10 wives thing or the child bride/forced marriages thing.

to your credit, in context of biblical history is the only way for it to be understood.

I saw him on CNN the other night. All he did was use random analogies to try to make an argument. Typical arguments that have no proof or bearing on reality in any way. Sorry that sounds harsh. Believe what you want! I love you!

those quotes at the top of this page were from larry king live on CNN. i believe he has great interpretations and views of the scriptures of the old and new testament. he might have been doing a lot of one-liners for the purpose of entertainment- but larry king was asking some difficult questions, basic questions about life and about the relevance of god, existence, etc..and he didn't back down and faced every single one with ease.

i'm not a huge fan of rick warren, i mean i'm sure he makes some valid points every now and again. but as far as christian writers go, i'll stick with c.s. lewis, frederick buechner, and a few select others.
