so, to my suprise, i've really gotten into some alt-country artists. it's suprising as i always used to claim that country music was the worst. namely i like ryan adams, bright eyes, grateful dead, the byrds (to a certain extend). |
Neko Case's stuff is really great. Alt-country goddess. |
Fronk. Try some Ray Lamontagne. Folk-Alt Country. |
Bright Eyes is alt-country now??? |
Bill Ricchini as well. |
liebs i have trouble, i wouldn''t have really called that alt-country. |
the elected. slash rilo kilely's guitarist sideband. and i hear jenny lewis' new album is countryish. |
Lots of the Hotel Lights strike me as extremely alt-country. Stumbling Home Winter Blues is a prime example. |
greetings in braille and the fireflies one are exceptionaly good. then go on. |
slash those are elected songs on their myspace. |
Clem Snide is very good alt-Country. |
anyone into clem snide?? i'm looking now on uk itunes and they have a record called 'suburban field recordings', but this isn't lisgted in their catalogue on allmusc. |
There's TWO albums, both with the same songs. One is called "SFR" and the other is "Early Home Recordings." They're both the same album, but with different names. EHR was sold as a disc, but is out of print now. The only place to get SFR is on iTunes. |
i think i'm going to download 'the ghost of fashion' by clem snide. it sounds pretty good. |

Ghost of Fasion is very good. I love You Were A Diamond. It's interesting, as there's very little percussion. Also a lot of the songs are pessimistic, which is my cup of tea. |
fronk u listen to the elected? |
Fronk, you listen to me moaning below you in bed? |
ok guys thanks for all these suggestions. i'm currently downloading the following from itunes: |
Neko Case! C'mon! Don't trust the foldsie, that's it. |
Early Wilco is alt-country. |
Pointer's boyfriend is alt-country. |

There's enough love in Jessica go to around, and probably enough energy left to go for another round afterwards... right after this lunch break. |

“He does put a mask on so you can't tell exactly who the people are in a certain song. If he does mention their name, he does it in reverse. People do like to hear their names in songs, and if it flies by and it's incriminating, they don't usually care.”
- Robert on Ben's songwriting
