I really have tried to like David Lynch. My old roomie was a big fan. He had Twin Peaks and a bunch of the movies.

I kinda liked Mulholland Drive, and not just for the sexy girls kissing part.

Twin Peaks the series was by far the most palatable.

TPFWWM made me want to scream in anger. I hated just about every second of it.

Well, my fever's gone down a bit, but I'm still not feeling well.

In the meantime, I really have tried to like David Lynch.

You should check out The Straight Story. It's an excellent film, and much less Lynch-esque than his more famous works.

Thanks for the heads up Eddie. I think the problem was that I started with his later stuff and worked backwards.

That and a lot of his imagery is either too uncomfortable (my problem admittedly, but something that I really enjoy in his films,) or too intense.

I understand. And to be sure, Lynch is certainly not for everyone. But yeah, Straight Story and Elephant Man are the two movies of his I'd recommend to people who don't generally go for him.

Webb, get out the series on DVD. it was seriously the best thing that has ever been on television, cept the simpsons.

I knew it. The market is flooded with mexican magical realism products right now.

Funnily enough, TP was selected as the 16th most ‘Forgotten Gem’ in today's Guardian.

Freed from the constraints of TV, David Lynch pulled no punches with this eerie, elegiac fable of incestuous urban horror. Sheryl Lee shimmers with incandescent sadness as the doomed Laura Palmer, slowly succumbing to the demonic possession of a deadly, dirty secret. Composer Angelo Badalamenti conjures a symphony of suspended chords that hang in the air full of dread, grief, and terrible magic. Dim-witted hacks mercilessly savaged the film, yet this is up there with Eraserhead as Lynch's most powerful, passionate and personal work.

..That being said, Save The Last Dance is on there too, which instantly invalidates the list.
