I haven't been especially interested in a newer (newer than Sega, haw haw) video game in years, but I've been watching someone play this game lately and actually find it fun just to watch.

And just what is the "it" that is to him "up" and which he can, perhaps, "handle"?

Zelda games tend to have that effect. It's fun to watch people work through the puzzles. I'm going to try to get kelly to play through Wind Waker so I can relive it without all the work of trying to do it all again.

Why is Zelda always getting herself into trouble? And why does Link keep helping out? It's time that guy moved on. I bet he and Princess Toadstool would get along pretty well. Someone should set this up.

Zelda = High Maintenance.

DUDE IT'S NOT THE SAME ZELDA EVERY TIME.

Every game has a diff. Zelda.

Except Zelda 2, which most people discount anyways because LOL IT'S A SIDE SCROLLER? WTF.

How many people can be named Zelda?? And how can they all have goblin conflicts?

I would never name my kid Zelda, for fear that she'd get locked up in a tower somewhere.

Is it always the same Link? What's this asshole's problem, he always has to be the hero. He has small guy syndrome, or whatever it's called.

no but seriously it's pretty obvious that the Hyrule Public Education System needs some serious work. if they had decent schools, they'd have decent history classes, and they'd learn that naming your princess Zelda is a really bad idea, and not to leave the triforce just LAYING around.

also everyone would name their kid link and make them wear green in the hopes that they'd be the 51st HERO OF TIME.

I think I am. That was a long time ago. I bet the old guy is probably dead by now.

I saw a MySpace video yesterday where some guy calling himself Angry Video Game Nerd (or something) was ranking out video games, usually because he sucked at them. He had this incredibly long rant about "The Karate Kid" video game, including a montage of all the times he screamed, "FUUUUCK!" as he died over and over. I walked out of the room to do something semi-interesting when he bitched about the "Roger Rabbit" game (man, we all knew that one was gonna ROCK). But maybe I judged him unfairly from the start, because the only reason I noticed him in the first place was because he had a video all about how much he hated "Castlevania II: Simon's Quest," which, as we all know, is the best video game ever.

Simon's Quest is indeed a fine video game, and an amazing look ahead at the future of the franchise.

I didn't beat the Alf game from sega master system till I was in college, I think. I can't tell you the sense of satisfaction I had when I got that fat turd back to Melmac.

That was probably the most difficult game ever. Though if you play it straight through, it's over literally in like 20 minutes.

And that's my story.

I was recently able to play the "Friday the 13th" game for the first time since I was seven or so. I begged for it for Christmas when I was six. Never got very far in that game. I could draw it out for hours before I died, but I really wouldn't get anywhere in it. Anyway, so I was playing it a few weeks ago, wondering how I ever managed to die in the game, wondering still more how I could play it for hours at a time. I got tired of it after about 30 minutes. Then I saw some guy beat it in about six minutes on YouTube. "Damn," I felt, "I suck." So I went back to emulate what the guy did so I could finally beat the game 17 years too late and feel really proud of myself in some sad way, but I got frustrated and gave up after five minutes or so. Damn. I do suck.
