I love those. Does it not taste like they usually do, or have you never had one?

The former. It's weird, it almost tastes stale, but the texture isn't that of a stale granola bar. I ate it all anyway. I don't know why I was eating it in the first place, though, because I really wanted some chips from the vending machine.

$0.59 please.

We sold those at the KwikMart, but they were $.79 or $.89 or something ridiculous like that...overpriced like everything else in the store.

Weird. They don't usually taste stale to me. I think they taste like Crackle N Oat Bran.

I really really wish I could go to ACL. I seems silly to live 2 hours away and not go, especially having a free place to stay with friends in Austin. But my 14 month old son makes things like this difficult. *Sigh* Wouldn't change it for anything though.

Good idea. Actually, he's already walking everywhere since about May, so that will make it even easier. Shit, maybe we'll just bring him along. I'm sure none of those effed up kids will mind a 1 yr old running around.

oh yeah? what'd you do?

So, i broke my leg, which means i'm basically house-bound. Going out is now a big production that I'm not used to [I usually make arrangements to go out maybe an hour before i go out]. It also means that having people over, which I also don't usually do, is also a big deal.

I spent the entire day at home. I woke up feeling pretty good, which is nice considering the last couple of days I've woken up not feeling wonderful. I got some work done in the morning, but nothing major.

My parents were meant to go away to our beaach house, so me and my sister were going to make shabbat dinner for a couple of our cousins, and we decided to invite a few friends over. I invited my friend, because he didn't want to go to his parents' for dinner.

I've recently started "being involved" with my sister's friend, so it's been a bit awkward the last couple of weeks. We decided to invite her, as well as their friend from England who is in the country until tomorrow.

They came over at like 3pm, and they didn't do much for an hour or so. It was cold today, so we decided to light a fire, and we literally sat in front of the fire from about 4pm until dinner time. Mum and Dad ended up not going away [they are leaving tomorrow] so we got dinner ready for them too.

Everyone else showed up around 7ish, and we had a nice, quick dinner - done by 830. After dinner we went back to sitting in front of the fire. It was really nice to just sit and do nothing with a bunch of friends.

It was just a really nice day, nice to sit and chill and do nothing. Good way to end the week.

ipod touch is awesome, and I think I might pick one up within the next 6 months.

yeah, its amazing. I'm so excited.

I'd really love to see My Morning Jacket, and Wilco, and Arcade Fire, and many others. But those three I've never seen live before.

I recently saw Wilco and they were good, but I don't know if it was an off night or if it was the venue but the energy wasn't what I thought it'd be. They were pretty damn amazing though.

and I'm with you on arcade fire andmy morning jacket.

do you like built to spill at all, william?

I'm going to be recording some drum samples for a hip/hop group in Chicago from 4 til prolly 10-11 tonight. Then I'm going on a date. Well, I mean she's already going to be at the studio, but we're going out afterwards.

I saw Wilco on Lenno, and Jeff sounded like shit, but eh, it's a tv show, a lot of good bands can sound bad on those.

Built to Spill? Yes, very much. But just recently unfortunately. A friend who's musical opinion I trust has been recommending them to me for a long time, but I just had too much other stuff to listen to for a while I guess. A month or so ago I got You In Reverse, and my first thought was "How have I never listened to this band?" I really love it. What album next? My friend suggested Ancient Melodies.

I'm a semi recent reluctant listener as well. It's been a few years now but prior to that a friend was reccomending them to meforever.

Uhh... if you started with you in revers it's kinda hard to say where to go from there. Ancient melodies is amazing in that it's their most pop oriented effort but it's still soo damn good.

I don't know what to reccomend really. For me, the two albums I think of when I think of definitive built to spill are the first two albums with warner brothers, Perfect from now on and keep it like a secret. That was when doug had his set line up for the band and when it seemed to me they really came into their own. The guitars are really layered on these two albums so that at first listen the songs sound kind of heavy. But once you start seperating the swirling guitar sounds and start to recognize how they play with each other and how damned dynamic the sound is you'll really understand what the band is about. Sincere lyrics underlined and sometimes overwhelmed by guitars that say almost as much as the lyrics in a different way.

I'm all stoked on the band rightnow since i just saw themlive. thats whay im writing so much.

So yeah. I'd stick with their more polished studio stuff like these three albums im talking about. and when you have had your fill and want more you should check out there's nothing wrong with love, normal years and ultimate alternative wavers. These are earlier albums that are so fucking good. It took me a long time to realize how good they were because i was so used to the newer stuff.

And the doug martsch solo albumis phenomenal. Get that whenever you can.

What you said, and then reiterated there, seems to be a fairly commonly held opinion from most Built To Spill fans I've talked to. I'll definitely be getting more soon, maybe today after work even. I'm luvin' it dood. From what I can tell, you and I have very similar musical tastes Webb.
