My reasoning is that the band purposely did not let anyone have anything from it before the release date so it could be released to everyone at the same time. They did it for a reason so I'm gonna support them.

I was going to support him....... then it leaked, like every other album does. The only time it doesn't happen is when a band self releases an album (like In Rainbows or when Wilco put up a free download of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot on their site when they were label-less).

I think this album is fantastic. Upon multiple listens, I think it is much more musically interesting than their first. The only song I don't like is "Hold Up."

I've gotten through the first 7 songs, and it's really good.

As long as White and Benson are writing together the songs will be good. You get a great combination of the intesity and craziness of White's writing and Benson's great sense of melody and how songs should be crafted.

It also doesn't hurt that all the guys in the band can play the fuck out of their instrument.

!GP!, the song you are talking about is "Carolina Drama" and it ends the album.

I listened to the album for a second time, and I'm pretty sure it destroys the first one. It's really that good. I hope I can see them this year.

Yeah, I've listened a few times and it's definitely better than the first album. BBS is fun, but COTL seems more substansive.

A lot of critics seem to not get over the fact that this band is straight ahead rock and roll. They also seem to be pissed that they didn't get it ahead of time like most albums.

The Village Voice essentially said that the album was a bunch of B-Sides, was too similar to a bar band, the drummer emulated Meg White (HA!), and that Brendan Benson is basically a replaceable part.

All BS in my opinion.

I just bought it and am about to listen for the first time.

It's the first CD I've bought in a while.
Partly due to being broke, and partly because there hasn't been much out I've wanted to buy.

Until today. I walked into the record shop and immediately found like, 5 CDs I wanted.

This, the new Supergrass album, the new Black Keys, new Be Your Own Pet, the Odelay deluxe edition, and probably a few I've forgotten about.

Anyway, listening in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1........

it's not. I wanted it to be out yesterday so I could buy the Raconteurs and Black Keys. Settled for the Rs. Gonna listen today. R and I heard a few tracks of it in Columbus yesterday and it sounds great.

Got this album today. A lot of the same rock elements that were great about BBS, but what I thought was interesting was the wider array of instruments used on this album. A lot more horns and piano that add to the overall sound without dominating too much. A very good rock album to listen to in my opinion.
