All morning I'm hearing news reports about calls for her to drop out.

Is McCain really benefiting from a continued battle between Obama and Hillary? Does anyone really think McCain is going to win in November regardless of who his opponent is?

Oh yeah.

I've heard from many people that if Obama wins the Democratic nomination, they're going to vote for McCain. Democrats that will vote for McCain because they believe all of the crap going around about Obama's church affiliation, ect.

People are stupid. I mean REALLY stupid. There are two other branches of government that keep the President in place. And like Obama could be any worse than GWB, even if everything is true.

so, on the completely random off chance that obama -might- be worse than bush, in the same way that that bum that always ends up in front of the line at the gas station buying 20 dollars worth of lottery tickets -might- win, we're gonna vote for someone who pretty much stands up and says "I'm just like george bush, only older and more crotchety."

Makes perfect sense.

ecco has a lot to worry about. the mall rent a cop is prosecuting him for ROCKING OUT - dustybooks

Regarding 2 other branches keeping the president in check - how well have they done reigning in GWB? Didn't he put his own cronies in the Supreme Court so now the republican party has the majority?

it is a weird post for a first time poster.

Are there really that many republicans interested in continuing with this war? Maybe one of McCain's handlers should jump on it and give him a design about how we can get out of this war. That might just give him a lock on the election.

There are many Republicans concerned with keeping things as is in Washington.

Regarding checks and balances, the Republican majority and democratic minority gave GWB a blank check essentially after 9/11 and he spent it. A lot of laws and legislation were passed that favor a strong executive branch. Now that the Dems are in power in Congress, you don't see the same kind of legislation, but they also don't have the numbers to undo much of the legislation in place or the numbers to override the veto.

Regarding the Supreme Court, it's pretty much split down the middle. You have 4 members who are conservative, four who are liberal, and one who flips. (usually this is true for the current court.) Although some like to characterize it as a Republican court, it's not really true...although there rulings in the past year or two have typically fallen on the conservative side. I think for the most part the justices have done an excellent job staying primarily neutral and defending the integrity of the court system (especially Scalia who came out and essentially did the talk show circuit to prevent the Republicans from monkeying too much with "activist" judges and the like.)

Thanks, TB. You answered a lot of questions I had - that I didn't even know I had. I've missed a lot over the past 4 years with the babies and such. Noggin doesn't have political coverage.

You think I want my kids watching what GWB has done to our country during their short lives - I think not! They sleep soundly through the night. I don't need to give them nightmares. I didn't need the nightmares myself, either.

If you thought seeing Lindsey Lohan pole dance would be worthwhile, you are wrong. She does not do as good of a job as Natalie Portman in "Closer" or Rose McGowen in "Grindhouse."
