ben apparently taped a video in nashville this past week.

"The song is called "Cologne" - not clone. It's a great tune (we heard it about a dozen times). Sam said they just finished the song about two days ago. The lyrics are fun; Ben mentions the woman that wore diapers and drove 900 miles to confront the "other women" in an astronaut love triangle. The song is reminiscent of tunes from Reinhold Messner and Songs for Silverman - it's very orchestrated."

"It's a short ditty. Quite personal. The chorus is "4, 3, 2, 1, I'm letting you go / I will let go if you will let go." It reminds me of Evaporated, lyrically and melodically, to an extent. I like the lyric about having "the same imaginary conversation." I can easily see it being the last track."

the comments don't really have me at all excited for it. the fact that it's "silverman-ish" and has lyrics about the diaper astronaut don't really help ben's case in my imo

i think it's named "cologne" b/c he met fulrui in europe (cologne, germany?) and cheated on frulie with her there and so that song is about that imo imo.

In any event, the song is called Cologne (or Koln, depending on where you're from).

If you listen to the linked youTube spot for RtB in Cologne, when he starts the riff about waking up in Cologne, Yeah I know I said it Wrong, he got a paper .. blah blah blah. He's talking about getting ready for the show that night in Cologne. However - that's not what the song is about.

It continues on to mention the astronaut diaper love triangle and the chorus alludes to a mutual split (I will let go if you let go). So, if there was a similar Frally/Fleur/Folds love triangle, I can see the similarity there. So you might be onto something.

But I wouldn't discount the song just yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it's released as a single, it's pretty powerful and has some very chunky chord work in it -- I know, I played it in the video :)

BTW the chorus isn't anything like guster -- no barrel of a gun up in this biotch!
