pitchfork seems to be pretty condescending about the book. From the 3 pictures they show I'm liking it, specially that last picture.

they were this alt country band that had a really dedicated following.

the lead singer disolved the band sometime last year.

kinda an interesting story about why he did it and what he plans on doing now.

i dont see the pavement connection besides on one album where the guy steve from pavement writes and sings, and even then it's just on a few songs.

id describe them as straightforward bar-room type alt country with an abstract poetic twist. the music is modest and sincere, the vocals are deep and at times almost monotone, and the lyrics are absurd, and abstracted poetry.

you pretty much need to chekc them out.

I'll trade you the jay hawks for the silver jews. by trade i just mean you check them out and i'll check them out.

Okay. I'm pretty sure I checked to see if they're on emusic and they weren't. Plus, we don't have any good record stores around here so I haven't had any luck finding them on disc. But I will not rest.

I kinda forgot about it, too. I flipped over to Comedy Central just before The Daily Show started and caught the tail end of Reno:911! and had some major laughs. It's kind of like Roseanne in that I don't make it a point to see it, but anytime it's on, I watch and enjoy.

I love that show. I was excited when the CW started showing reruns really late. It wreaked havoc on my bedtime tho!

The silver jews remind me a bit of interpol and the hold steady, although not with their sound. it's the way the seemed to approach their music.

I probably haven't seen anything past season 4 or 5, but those early seasons are magical. They really hit their stride around season three imo
