What the hell is with that "Previously on Parks & Rec..." opening? Ew.

Either way, this show at least for now is totally superior to The Office. I dunno if it's because The Office has gone stale or what, but there's something pretty special about Parks.

To me, last night's episode wasn't all that great. I'm sure the hiatus had something to do with it, but they just didn't seem to be hitting on all cylinders. Hopefully it's just one of those "okay, lets get this thing started again and pick up the momentum as we go" episodes.

I agree Ross. It's kind of an awkward way to come back, and I think it was just a bit manic. But one little misstep isn't enough to totally derail. I still enjoyed the episode.

I really don't understand how they could reopen the Parks department but not have a budget.

Rewatching it I'm noticing a lot of reiteration in this episode, and I that's a big problem. It's like they're expecting an entirely new audience.

That's a good thought, JL. Probably why NBC gave it The Office as a lead-in.

they probably are. it seems like parks and rec didn't really hit its stride until the second season, and even then i think the buzz grew slowly. a lot of people are probably just now hearing that's it's a good show.

I'll wait until next week's episode before I start insisting it was never a good show in the first place and making fun of people that like it while still watching it every week

a writer for the av club saw the first six episodes of the season and gave it an a.

"NBC majorly buried the lead on this one. Having seen the next six episodes of Parks & Rec on a screener, including tonight's, I can already predict the show will appear on many Best Of TV 2011 lists. Ranked really high. It's not just that Parks & Rec is just as funny, if not funnier, than last season; it's that the show has a newfound sense of purpose and has stumbled upon a genius rubric for exploring Pawnee."

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Not sure I can condone Leslie pushing for a budget increase right after re-opening. That's kind of irresponsible, regardless of her enthusiasm and vigor.

I decided to do the 1 week free trial of hulu plus mostly so I could watch this show.

Also, JL, that one government guy who's Rob Lowe's partner sort of reminds me of you.

I've heard it mentioned on just about every late-night appearance she's made. Apparently she's sang on some records and stuff, too.

Yeah, it was mentioned pretty much anytime any media mentioned here up until P&R got big and she was a name enough herself.
