Sounds like the theme to Ducktales( the classic kid's cartoon show), when Foldsie says "Black tears", don't you think? |

hahahaha.....i see what your saying...i always thought there was something familiar sounding about this song...maybe thats it... |
|
To me, the beginning of the song sounds like a slightly slower version of Army. Are any of the chords the same by any chance? |
|
i don't hear the ducktales at all ...but then again it has been awhile since i've heard it ...but i do totally here the 'army' bit, especially during the first 45 seconds or so ... |

i think the beginning of the ascent of stan sounds a lot like mess. anyone else hear it? |
|
You know the first time I listened to the Ascent of Stan I didn't hear it...not sure why, because once it was pointed out it was like...yeah...how did I miss that? And then of course Carrying Cathy is reminicent of Selfless, Cold, and Composed. I think those are the only old vibes I really picked up on. |
|
And the whole chorus sounds exactly like a Beach Boys song. |

Spin Magazine's review of the album mentioned that Losing Lisa "keeps threatening to break into 'Happy Together." So it might sound like that to some people... |

THATS exactly the song! Happy Together! Me an you, and you and me, no matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be... the only one for me is you, and you for me, so happy together! |

So much like Happy Together. It jumped right out at me the first time I heard it. "I can't see me loving nobody but you, for all my liiiiiiffffee" |

the first interval of the chorus to "Losing Lisa" is the same as the first interval of the chorus to "Happy Together", and they ARE in the same key. but in spite of those things, I wasn't reminded of "Happy Together" by "Losing Lisa" until someone else mentioned it. I don't think they're all that similar |

Anyone else reminded of that 50s song that goes something like, "I guess I might have had about a thousand girls..." by the first few bars of Gone? I kept walking around singing this song and couldn't figure out why at first! |
|
I think matt mentioned it above, but there are chords taht are exactly the same as selfless in Carrying Cathy and the chourus even sounds similar. I found that to be the most obvious link. |

Yes!!! Happy Together... I've been going mad trying to figure out the name of that song since the first time I heard Losing Lisa. That's exactly right, the chorus sounds just like it! |

“to be fair, i have read a few funny things on [the org] and there are people pointing out good new music but very often i've clicked on the address and a hologram of a turd came steaming out of the computer. if, as the name of the site implies, i somehow caused that, then i get down on my knees and pray for forgiveness to the gods.”
