International Orange EP due this spring
Posted by benfoldsgroupie on January 30th, 2004 @ 17:01 (Releases)

Ready for some of those songs Robert did, that didn't make it to studio release before The Five hit Splitsville?

According to Django Haskins, one of the lead singers of International Orange, the International Orange EP should be released around the beginning of April. They laid down 6 tracks while in the studio, but haven't mixed them just yet! The tracklist currently includes these songs::

Tell Me What I Did
Prince Charming
Hand to Mouth
Singer with Nothing to Say
Fayetteville
Alone

Blasphemy....

I used to think sledge didnt do that much... until you listen to Ben's new stuff.. then go back to listen to his old stuff... listen for the gap. Also, going to see the orange here in the hill helped. Only person I dont really like is Snuzz... he's corny as Hee Haw.

It's suprising how much Sledge put into that band. If you play bass you really appreciate(? my spelling sucks) what he put into it. I cant wait for this

"Prince Charming" and "Tell Me What I Did" were songs written by Sledge before the Five split up.

Yes, I have heard snuzz... have you?

If or not... go download "Lemonade" from his website.

Case closed.

You're gonna base your conclusion about Snüzz on one song? If you are, I surely wouldn't say to base everything he's done on "Lemonade." I mean if you don't like the 'humor' in that song, then fine. You're entitled to your opinion but I can guarantee his songs aren't all "...as corny as Hee Haw."

Snüzz rocks. Django rocks. Robert rocks.

Jason....he just has a weird style of drumming.

Go check them out down Franklin St. from you at UNC-CH at Go Studios on the 27th.

I have a MP3 of Prince Charming by IO. Not as impressed as I was with the BFF live version. I hope the same isn't true about Tell Me What I Did. That song is hiljarious!

Yeah....everybody has that MP3.....

Personally I think the recording was rushed and therefore they didn't get a good take of it on tape. But it sounds really good live with the synth Django plays and stuff.

"Tell Me What I Did" also rocks live and I'm sure the EP version will rock just as much.

First - this topic about Robert's weight has been brought up too many damn times. Go search the archives, go read those threads, and drop the subject already. It's been discussed too many times and it's irritating to read people make the same comment - "Oh wow - he's fat!", etc. I don't see why it's a big deal - he gained some weight. It's still Robert Sledge who still kicks ass on bass and rocks. Same person, he gained some weight. People change...get over it. Ben and Darren look a little different from their days in the Five....still the same people.

How many times sillystarman25 have you seen Robert within the past year or so? I'm guessing none since you live in Maine. I've seen him 4 times with International Orange since last August and like Sara mentioned he's not really fat. He's not800 lbs. like everybody seems to make it out to be. From what I've noticed he's actually lost weight since International Orange started up probably because he's back in a band that plays quite regularly now.

Also - where the hell did the comment about Robert being like "...fat chicks who wear Old Navy shirts meant for 10 year olds" come from??? That's one of the most ridiculous and baseless things I've read on here ever. I'm really not seeing where you get off making that comment.

That's all I have to say about the topic.

Back onto the subject of the EP - it will again - rock.

Trust me on this one.....I know.

Yes, its not a big deal. Robert still kicks ass. But ... times change, people change, storefronts change... and not all is the same.

So some of you went to Go the other night? I have to say, I like IO way better live than the few songs I listened to on their website. Although I wish Snatches of Pink had played longer, dammit.

I just found this website 5 minutes ago, what's this I hear about Robert's weight? He looked fine to me.

Those of you who went to see IO, did you go to see Hotel Lights also? I don't know when the latest show was, but I went to see them at Go last semester (along with the 10 other people there).

hey, this is a response to some comments made a while ago... but oh well,

Robert has written more than I think people realize. When the Five were still together Robert wrote the original lyrics to some songs like Give Me my Money Back and the oringinal lyrics and chords to Magic. I don't think he gets enough credit for what he did for the Five. Not to say that Ben isn't an AWESOME songwriter, but that Robert should be given some credit as well.

Ummm......I think you're confusing Robert with Darren.

Robert wrote a lot but "Song for the Dumped" was written by Darren after he broke up with Summer Burkes and Ben worked on the song a little. "Magic" was written by Darren and was on a benefit for the Chatam County Family Violence and Rape Crisis Service.

But either way, Robert has written a lot and a lot of his songs are finally being played live by International Orange.

sledge is just a fat ass, so fat he couldnt be arsed to get up of he big behind and write new songs. if you're only doing an ep you'd expect him to have something better than 4 year old songs!

If you're referring to the demo MP3's....that's what they are - demos.

They're about 90000000% times better live.

And the EP is going to sound a lot better. If you don't like the quality of the demos....then fine - they're demos.
